Campus X and SenseTime Partner to Deliver Innovative AI Education Program in Hong Kong Empowering Youth to Become Innovators of Tomorrow
Campus X, a STEAM education institution created by the team from local robotics company Rice Robotics, announced today that it is partnering with leading AI software company SenseTime’s education brand, Magic Lab, to launch "Sense AI", an innovative AI education program designed for Hong Kong students.
Comprising six comprehensive modules over a total of 24 lessons, “Sense AI” will take learners on a journey from grasping fundamental AI principles to mastering advanced techniques. Designed to equip students with a well-rounded knowledge of AI, the program empowers young minds to navigate the new era of artificial intelligence and tackle the evolving challenges of the modern world.
The program is divided into two levels - "Sense AI Level 1" for children aged 5-8 and "Sense AI Level 2" for those aged 9–12. “Sense AI Level 1” covers the first four modules, introducing basic AI concepts through simple and engaging hands-on activities. The approach can help foster students’ interest in technology and familiarize them with the definition and applications of AI, and foundational concepts such as basic image recognition, object detection, and facial authentication. Participants can gain introductory coding experience through the interactive games and exercises. With “Sense AI Level 2”, it delves deeper into AI technologies across all six modules. Through hands-on operations and programming exercises, it aims to cultivate students' logical and innovative thinking. They will also learn how to use Python to process images and develop AI applications.
"At Campus X, our education philosophy is to teach students how to think, rather than simply telling them what to do,” said Tylor Ng, General Manager of Campus X, "We are committed to breaking the traditional education norm, which often limits the creative young mind. Our courses emphasize hands-on practice, practical learning, as we believe this is the most effective approach. When students have a clear goal in mind, they will naturally develop the skills needed to achieve it, instead of accepting spoon-fed knowledge.”
Tylor continued, “As engineers, we integrate extensive industry experience into our teaching, ensuring the content is the most up-to-date and highly practical. Rather than solely relying on textbook theories, our students can learn valuable skills from real-world AI applications, as the essence of our educational model is putting knowledge into meaningful practice. We're a leader in taking this new approach, and the AI course developed together with SenseTime reflects our devotion to innovation.”
"Founded by a team of a team of professors and AI scientists in Hong Kong a decade ago, SenseTime endeavours to nurture tech talents of the future," said Lynn Dai, Vice President of SenseTime's Large Model Business Unit and Dean of the SenseTime Education Research Institute, “As SenseTime celebrates its 10th anniversary this year, we are proud to launch our education arm, Magic Lab, in Hong Kong where we were founded. Our partnership with Campus X to launch the AI course in the city is testament of our commitment to nurturing tech talent for the city. As AI becomes increasingly interwoven in our daily lives, it is crucial to equip our youth with relevant knowledge to become the next generation of innovators."
Campus X, a Hong Kong-based education institution, has been focused on robotics, AI and STEAM education to prepare young students for the rapidly evolving technological environment. Since it was founded in early 2024, Campus X has provided widely recognized STEAM and AI courses to over 3,000 students in Hong Kong. It has collaborated with many local primary and secondary schools to offer hands-on robotic experiences, allowing students to learn outside the classroom. In fact, a renowned international school in Hong Kong has included Campus X courses into its regular school curriculum this year.
In addition, in September and October of the new school year, Campus X will be partnering with Tech Seed Development to sponsor students from 30 primary and secondary schools to visit a local robotics R&D center and try assembling a robot themselves. Tech Seed is a local nonprofit organization that aims to inspire children and youth to explore technology through educational programs.
SenseTime established the Magic Lab with a focus on driving AI education for K-12 students. Leveraging SenseTime's deep expertise and experiences in artificial intelligence, Magic Lab offers a diverse array of programs aimed at igniting the next generation's passion towards transformative technology.
Magic Lab had previously brought its AI courses that integrate theoretical and hands-on modules to markets such as Mainland China and Singapore. Through different formats like classroom lessons, experiential workshops and internships, students are able to experience first-hand how these cutting-edge technologies empower our everyday lives by building their own AI products. With a curriculum that dives deep into the various aspects of machine intelligence, students will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to thrive in a tech-driven future.
The synergies arising from the partnership between Campus X and SenseTime will deliver unparalleled AI education to students. Moving forward, both parties will tap on their collective expertise to continue accelerating the growth of Hong Kong’s tech talent pool and strengthen the city’s position as an international innovation hub.
