SenseTime Launched Joint Lab for AI Healthcare Innovation with the West China Hospital of Sichuan University

September 30, 2021 – Chengdu, China – SenseTime, a leading global artificial intelligence (AI) software company, has launched a joint lab with the West China Hospital of Sichuan University, a prestigious, word-class medical center located in Sichuan, China. The lab aims to enhance fundamental research in AI healthcare, establish a collaborative innovation platform for medical professionals and researchers, as well as nurturing the next generation of talent for the AI healthcare industry.

The opening ceremony of the lab was hosted at the 125^th anniversary of Sichuan University and 7^th Conference on Biochemical Big Data and Artificial Intelligence, witnessed by a number of prominent medical experts, professors and researchers, including Prof. Zhang Lin, Vice President of Sichuan University, Prof. Zhang Wei, Party Secretary of the West China Hospital, Director of Med-X Center for Informatics at Sichuan University and Director of West China Biomedical Big Data Center, and Prof. Liu Lunxu, Vice President of the West China Hospital. Addressing the rising demand in the “Big Health” industry, the lab was established with the mission to empower technological R&D and tackle key projects, as well as boosting the application and promotion of research results. The lab, which will work on various medical specialties such as orthopedics, neurology, physiatry, radiology, cardiology, pathology, and medical ultrasound, will effectively facilitate technology innovation that covers diagnosis, treatment to rehabilitation.

The collaboration will also fill the talent gap in the rapidly growing AI healthcare sector. The West China Hospital, known for its strong medical resources and top-notch research team, will collaborate with SenseTime by leveraging its industry-leading AI technology and AI education expertise to bring more targeted talent development schemes.
