SenseTime Rolls Out Online AI Education Program during COVID-19

Shanghai – February 18, 2020 – With on-campus classes suspended amid the COVID-19 epidemic, SenseTime, a leading global artificial intelligence (AI) company that specializes in computer vision and deep learning, has launched a series of complimentary online AI education programs.


During the extended period of school closures, interested educational institutions or schools can gain free access to educational videos, SenseTime’s exclusive ‘Titan Open Courses’ and the SenseStudy AI Experimental Platform. For teachers keen on becoming AI instructors, they can also take training courses on SenseTime’s platform for free.

Quality teaching materials are critical for stimulating and sustaining students’ interest in learning. SenseTime has rolled out a popular science video series that teaches the fundamental basics of AI, machine learning and robotics. These videos are available on different online platforms including Yangshipin, Jiangsu Smart Education Cloud Platform, Shandong Teacher Education Network and Bilibili. In addition, SenseTime is opening its SenseStudy AI Experimental Platform, an interactive space for students to exercise AI theories and practice programing, and for teachers to create classes, assign homework and counsel students.

Teachers who aspire to be AI instructors can access SenseTime’s instructor training materials, which range from AI development to applications and algorithms, all available on provincial and municipal cloud platforms. These materials are organized by level, from primary to secondary education, while users can choose to start at a level that matches their needs and ability. Apart from self-learning materials, SenseTime is also offering livestreaming lessons that allow real-time discussions to users for free. Qualified instructors can as well take verification tests online.


Furthermore, SenseTime has launched the ‘SenseTime Titan Open Courses’, a platform and tool to support knowledge-sharing and communications among academics and university students majoring in AI. Users of the platform can learn the latest AI research development, and have the opportunity to speak with some of the experts in the field.

In the first semester of 2019-2020 school year, a total of 140,000 students from 249 primary and secondary schools across 11 cities including Shanghai, Qingdao, Jingzhong, Hong Kong, Macau and Chengdu, took part in the AI curriculum. Although schools may be suspended for the second semester under the COVID-19 outbreak, AI learning will continue as SenseTime offers students and teachers a series of complimentary online AI education program to keep them equipped for the age of AI.
