SenseTime Receives BS10012:2017 Certification for Personal Information Management Systems

May 16, 2022, Shanghai – SenseTime has recently received the BS10012:2017 Certification for Personal Information Management Systems (PIMS) from the British Standards Institution (BSI).

The certification reaffirms SenseTime’s commitment to protect privacy information in AI applications and compliments recent re-certifications it has received, inclusive of ISO/IEC 27001:2013 Information Security Management System Certification, Personal Identity Protection Management System Certification (ISO/IEC 29151:2017) and Privacy Information Management System Certification (ISO/IEC 27701:2019). SenseTime was the first AI company to obtain all the three certifications.

 

BS10012:2017 is the first standard for personal information management, which is internationally recognized.  It outlines the core requirements organizations need to consider when collecting, storing, processing, retaining or disposing of personal records related to individuals. Companies that have obtained the certification conform to best practices, which can help organizations fully protect the reasonable use of personal information on the premise of respecting the right to information privacy of parties. To achieve certification to the standard, SenseTime has undergone a 4-month independent assessment covering all the requirements of BS10012:2017.

SenseTime established the Data Security and Personal Information Protection Management Committee to strictly enforce data security controls and create industry benchmark for product privacy and security in 2018. It has also participated in the formulation of over 130 national or international industry standards, working closely with multiple domestic and multilateral institutions on ethical and sustainable AI development.
