SenseTime Holds AI Forum with HKSTP Gathers Industry Experts to Explore AGI’s Vast Potential

Renowned AI experts and leaders from diverse industry sectors gathered to discuss commercial applications and the future development of artificial general intelligence (AGI). At the event, SenseTime shared the latest updates of its “SenseNova” Foundation Model Sets, and further enhanced the event by offering attendees a unique opportunity to experience the advanced capabilities of SenseTime's state-of-the-art AI technology.

Grasping AGI development opportunities to empower industrial upgrades and transformation

The forum gathered a distinguished panel comprising of leaders from diverse industry sectors and renowned AI experts, facilitating in-depth discussion on the wide range of AI applications across industries and their consequential impact. In the keynote speech entitled “Business Application of AI in Hong Kong”, Timothy Leung, the Executive Director of HKAI LAB, engaged in a profound dialogue with representatives from startup enterprises. He urged the participating companies and startups to collaborate in promoting the widespread adoption of AI across various domains, with the goal of establishing it as a universal language accessible to all.

Generative AI pushes the boundaries of innovation and accelerates the development and transformation of industries and enterprises. Nixon Chau, Managing Director and General Manager, SenseTime Hong Kong, engaged in an insightful fireside chat with Jacob Wai, a partner of Deloitte, focusing on “The Influence and Significance of Generative AI on Businesses”. During the discussion, they explored the impact of generative AI on business models and discussed its prospects.

Nixon Chau emphasized, “We are now entering an era of accelerated development in AGI technology. Generative AI not only aids enterprises in enhancing operational efficiency, cost reduction, and optimizing customer experiences but also improves employees’ productivity. During the discussion on “AGI in Education”, Brunce Li, Co-founder and CEO of LingoTask, an AI-powered e-platform for English teaching and learning, highlighted the role of AI technology in enhancing the effectiveness and engagement of English education. He emphasized that AI technology not only makes English teaching and learning more interesting and efficient but also improves students' writing abilities while alleviating teachers’ workloads.

In another industry forum entitled “AI in Biotech”, representatives from biotech companies in Hong Kong discussed the progress of integrating AI and biotechnology, as well as the challenges and opportunities they create. They unanimously recognized that AI accelerates the drug development process and reduces development costs. Furthermore, leveraging AI for large-scale data analysis and model prediction opens up new possibilities in the realm of innovative drug development.

Strengthening enterprise technology cooperation and expanding Hong Kong’s innovation and technology ecosystem

The forum also invited the founders of several start-ups in Hong Kong to discuss the current stage of the industry and the forthcoming opportunities for AI development. In a round-table discussion on “Identifying the Next Opportunities in AI”, the start-up founders expressed the great potential of AI technology applications and highlighted how AI could contribute to business expansion and operational cost savings.
