SenseTime Leads the Way in Deploying its Cantonese Large Model via HKSTP’s High-Performance Computing Service

Strengthening Digital Trust to Empower Enterprise AI Development

Hong Kong, November 22, 2024 – SenseTime has officially launched the "SenseNova Cantonese Large Model" on the High-Performance Computing (HPC) service platform hosted by the Hong Kong Science Park Corporation (HKSTP). This marks a significant milestone in the deployment of large models at local computing centers, enabling SenseTime to provide Hong Kong enterprises with customized, efficient and reliable artificial intelligence (AI) solutions that address their unique needs.

As industries increasingly embrace AI, fostering digital trust has become essential in supporting the enterprises’ technology adoption and digital transformation journeys. The deployment of the SenseNova Cantonese Large Model on HKSTP’s HPC service platform demonstrates SenseTime’s commitment to integrating trustworthy AI capabilities into local ecosystems, ensuring that data is processed in the local cloud to comply with both corporate and regional data processing regulations. Enterprises can also choose on-premise deployment options for the "SenseNova Cantonese Large Model" and its Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) knowledge base, offering flexibility to meet specific operational needs while ensuring robust and trusted AI practices.

To help enterprises better leverage AI, SenseTime will be actively engaging with Park companies at HKSTP to deepen their understanding of large model technologies and their potential to enhance operational efficiency. Launched in May 2024, the “SenseNova Cantonese Large Model”, is tailored to understand Hong Kong’s linguistic and cultural nuances, excelling in local expressions and contexts. Powered by the industry-leading SenseNova 5.5 framework, it achieves a 30% improvement in performance over its predecessor, SenseNova 5.0. The key enhancements include stronger mathematical reasoning, improved English proficiency, and a sharper understanding of complex commands, with interactivity and core metrics on par with GPT-4o.

In September this year, HKSTP officially launched the first commercial HPC service platform at the Advanced Manufacturing Centre in Tseung Kwan O. This infrastructure is specifically designed to meet the strong demand for AI computational power while providing customised AI model development and cross-industry data support services. SenseTime is among the first ecosystem partners that have collaborated with HKSTP to support over 300 enterprises in achieving technological breakthroughs across fields that include AI, robotics, health technology, and scientific research.
