Forging the Future with Large Models: WAIC 2025 “AI+: Large Model Shapes the Future” Large Model Forum
The World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) 2025 is set to return with one of its flagship events, the “AI+: Large Model Shapes the Future” Large Model Forum, officially opening on July 27 in Shanghai.
Jointly hosted by the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce Artificial Intelligence Committee and organized by SenseTime under the official guidance of the WAIC Organizing Committee, the forum aims to convene leading global minds. Building on Shanghai’s strategic position and strong technological foundation in large models, the event will explore how AI-driven productivity can accelerate real-world transformation across industries. The key highlights include:
Cross-Border Dialogue: Charting the Future of Large Model Development
The WAIC 2025 Large Model Forum will serve as a leading platform for international academic and technical exchange. Industry experts from leading AI companies and academics from top universities will gather for high-level discussions.
SenseTime’s co-founder will lead a high-profile lineup of representatives from StepFun, MiniMax, Zhipu AI, NVIDIA, and other global leaders in large model innovation. Anchored on the theme of “Deciphering the Model Question”, the forum will address topics such as ecosystem development, collaborative paradigms, current challenges, and the roadmap for future technologies and commercialization.
The forum will also feature speakers who include a Fellow of the Singapore Academy of Engineering, a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Science, leading representatives from the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT), Shanghai AI Laboratory, and top academic institutions such as Nanyang Technological University, Peking University, and Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Beyond technical demonstrations, the discussions will explore the evolution, core breakthroughs, and ethical considerations of large model development.
Industry-Focused Discussions: Tackling Critical Issues
The forum will also highlight some of the most pressing topics in AI currently, identifying both the inflection points for technological breakthroughs and the paths toward large-scale deployment.
On the key theme of “Domestic Heterogeneous Computing Collaboration and Ecosystem Development”, participants will include major hardware and software players such as Huawei, Hygon, Cambricon, Biren Technology, Moore Threads, Cupace, and Kylin Software. Together with SenseTime’s AI infrastructure team, discussions will explore how to build a stable, efficient, and secure domestic computing foundation in China to support the industrial-scale deployment of advanced AI applications, and foster a thriving computing ecosystem across cloud, edge, and device.
On the topic of “Core Breakthroughs in Embodied World Models”, leading researchers from Nanyang Technological University will join industry pioneers including Galaxy General, Qiongche Intelligence, and Cupace. This discussion will explore how embodied intelligence can be translated from lab research to scalable application, solving challenges in integrating perception, decision-making, and physical interaction. SenseTime will also unveil its new Embodied Intelligence “Brain”, which integrates perception, visual navigation, and multimodal interaction to empower smart devices and robotics.
Global Collaboration: Large Models Transforming Industries
The forum also highlights the role of large models in the digital transformation of industries globally, as seen through international partnerships and practical deployment.
Distinguished global guests, including senior leadership from King Saud University and high-ranking officials from the Indonesian government, will join discussions on building international AI collaboration networks. Topics will include technical standards, ethical governance, and talent development, underscoring China’s role in shaping responsible global AI development.
Speakers from industry leaders such as Hong Kong International Airport Services, Kingsoft Office (WPS), and Xiaomi’s XiaoAI team will share real-world case studies on how large models are optimizing user experiences and unlocking new value. These insights offer replicable blueprints for digital transformation across sectors.
From insightful reflections on the philosophical “Model Question” to tangible progress in practical application and ecosystem development, the “AI+: Large Model Shapes the Future” WAIC 2025 Large Model Forum will be a defining moment for the future of AI.
