Saudi Data & Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA)
Introduction
The Saudi Data & AI Authority (SDAIA) is the authoritative body in the Kingdom responsible for data and AI, including big data.
SDAIA’s transformation strategy was approved in 2019. The strategy grants SDAIA the primary responsibility to lead and oversee the national data and AI initiatives, contributing to the goal of Vision 2030 and unlocking the Kingdom’s highest potential.
To fulfill this responsibility, SDAIA – and its sub-entities NDMO, NIC, and NCAI – will strive to fulfill their commitment of establishing a data-driven and AI-supported government and economy.
Challenges
By implementing its national strategy on Data and Artificial Intelligence, Saudi Arabia is poised to elevate its global leadership position in a data-driven economy. This initiative aligns with the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, which focuses on achieving digital transformation, nurturing disruptive technologies, and developing a talented workforce.
Result
Together with Saudi Data & Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), SenseTime has conducted the Saudi AI Education Program, which provides a comprehensive AI curriculum to teachers and students nationwide. Popular AI topics such as computer vision and deep learning are covered in the program, helping participants to improve their interest in AI and develop their skills. As the program progresses into its next phase, it will offer content in both Arabic and English content, accredited by the Ministry of Education. The program is set to include additional levels of general education, and there are plans to construct AI labs in selected schools. This expansion initiative aims to benefit over 30,000 students and train around 2,000 teachers.
